“Things got off to a rollicking good start on Wednesday night with a bawdy and brazen production of Romeo & Juliet performed al fresco, under the aegis of Neil Sheppeck…”

“….a cracking, handsome cast acquitted themselves remarkably well in what transpired to be a surprisingly feel good affair – mounting body count notwithstanding.”

“Gabriel Thomson made for a suitably earnest, conflicted Romeo and found a natural chemistry with Lucy Wray’s defiant Juliet, while laughs came thick and fast courtesy of Sioned Jones’s earthy, lumbering nurse and Joel Sams’swaggering Mercutio.”

“Little wonder the capacity crowd rose to its feet in applause as the curtains fell…”

Daragh Reddin, Metro-Herald

“A lovely addition was some gregorian-chant style hymns sung off stage by the company not on stage during parts of the play. Some of the actors also played some (presumably) Elizabethan music while the audience were getting settled and again during the performance to good effect.”

Claire Bradley, Dublin Culture

One of the Oddsocks’ cast members Bethan Nash heard that she’s got into the Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol starting in September.

Beth has been with Oddsocks since last September as an intern but so impressed when she auditioned ( just for the experience of auditioning) for our winter tour of Hamlet that she landed the part of Ophelia, even getting mentioned in several national reviews.

She’s playing a variety of parts in Macbeth including first witch, Ross and Fleance.

“Iron Man meets Braveheart: it can only mean one thing – the Oddsocks theatre company is up to its old tricks again.”

“The sheer energy of the company, with each cast member playing a plethora of roles, is a joy to behold.”

“Another surefire winner for all ages”

The Stage:

“Oddsocks’ summer tour is so eagerly anticipated that audiences scorn the weather and will happily camp out in the rain in whatever grassy space or courtyard the company sets up its ramshackle wagon.”

“Amid all the visual jokes about trifles, the lisping about thanes, the dangling daggers and the ad-libbing about deep-fried Mars bars, the truly remarkable thing about Oddsocks is that they still manage to stick to the story and to tell it well.”
